May Madness

I know it's been forever since I posted but we are still here. For some reason I can't get my pictures from my camera to upload to the computer- until then I'll just tell you what's been going on.

The biggest thing that happened this month was that my dad fell of his roof last Tuesday. One of the skylights in their roof had been leaking from the rain and so he went to caulk around it and fix it. He can't remember the fall but what we think happened is that he had just finished caulking around the skylight when a gust of wind came up and he lost his balance. He had the extension ladder extended and he was 2 rungs from the top. So he basically fell 24 feet. He dislocated and severely broke both of his shoulders, had a severe bloody nose, a subdural hematoma (blood between his skull and his brain), stitches in one knee, torn tendons and ligaments in the other knee, and bruises EVERYWHERE! It has been SO scary and awful but the good thing is that he is going to be okay. The first day and night they were very worried about the hematoma and woke him up every hour to ask him questions. He also has gotten a ton of scans. He had surgery on his shoulders last Thursday and cannot move them at all for 2 weeks. After that it will only be very limited movement in physical therapy. He will be okay- it will be just a long, hard recovery. He is getting better every day. We truly feel that he was protected as it could have been SOO much worse, paralyzed, and even dead. We try not to let ourselves even think about what could have happened. He left the hospital today to go into a rehabilitation center to gain strength and will be there for a week or so.

After a month of ear infections for Caleb, 3 occurrences, with a total of 5, I had finally decided I'd had enough and took him to an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist today. He is going to get tubes in his ears. It kind of freaks me out since they will be putting him completely out with anesthetic but I had them as a kid and I know it's a very minor procedure.

My dear Uncle Ron, my dad's only brother, passed away at the beginning of this month. He had a stroke, severe cerebral hemorrhage, and he passed away. My Aunt Kathy and my cousins have been so strong throughout all of this but my heart just breaks for all of them. The funeral happened to coincide with our vacation in Utah so I was luckily able to go. It was so nice seeing all my aunts and uncles and cousins.

We went to Utah for 10 days and had a great time seeing family. We were able to go to Ben's brother, John's, graduation from the University of Utah. It was crazy and very busy but a lot of fun seeing everyone. The last couple of days in Utah Ben had to fly out for a business trip to Washington. His aunt and uncle live up there and he hasn't seen them in forever so he decided to extend his trip and see them. Unfortunately while he was gone me and both boys got sick. I'm talking fever, chills, etc. Fun times. My poor sister had to deal with my sick family but she and her family were of course wonderful.

So it has been a VERY difficult and trying month, but we are still here. Most importantly my dad is going to be okay. Thank you to all of our family and friends for all their prayers, love and support.

P.S. Pictures will come as soon as I can get the loader up thingy to work.

Oh my goodness Angie. My heart was in my mouth reading about your awful month. Thank goodness that your dad is going to be OK. He surely had angels watching over him. Sorry that you guys have been so sick lately, we have had it at our house too, it is no fun. I'll be praying for Caleb and his ear tubes, he will be great. Thinking of you Ang, and missing you!

Wow, I was wondering what happened to your dad...he was supposed to be at the temple last week for our ward chapel meeting. I am really glad that he is OK! Tell him we are praying for him.

Our prayers will be with you guys. When I was ten my dad fell about 30feet. He was cutting branches off a neighbors tree. We almost lost him, his whole face was reconstructed. I know how scared and grateful you may feel.
