Chicka Chicka What?

Danny's preschool had a Valentines Party/Costume Party on Thursday. The kids were supposed to dress up as their favorite character from a book. One of Danny's favorite books is "Chicka Chicka 123" by Bill Martin Jr. It is kind of a sequal/companion book to "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom". Danny learned to count to 100 with this book and just loves it- he loves anything with numbers. So I made the mistake of casually suggesting he could be a tree like in the book and he grabbed onto the idea and stuck with it. If I only knew what I was getting into. So he decided he wanted to be a tree with numbers on it, no matter what. I tried talking him into easier costumes, perhaps something involving his Halloween costume from last year. He wouldn't budge. So with the help of Ben and my mom, we made the following.

We actually got a lot of compliments on it from teachers. I was so proud. =) Of course a lot of the parents had no idea what he was supposed to be. Oh well- Danny was excited.
If you haven't read the Chicka Chicka books, you gotta check them out. They're great!

Cute costume! Those are great books. Love how something gets stuck in the little head of theirs and cannot be changed.

He is so cute and that costume is awesome!! I have heard of those books but I don't think we have any. I'll check them out for sure. I can't believe how big Danny is. I remember when he was born :)

I haven't read that book, but I'll have to check them out. Danny looks so cute and I loved that he wasn't so mainstream. Asher has the same type of thing coming up at his preschool in April. I can't figure out which direction to steer him in, but I love the challenge of making a costume. I may be coming to you for inspiration.

And you say that you are not creative...I love the costume. The best ones come from those ideas that you wish you never came up with. very cute!
